We are shaping the future

Sustainability, digitalization, health and social justice. Our aim is to solve specific challenges of our time and to make scientific findings directly accessible and usable for business and society.

To this end, we work on problems and issues in a wide variety of dimensions and frameworks: from individual projects for companies to multi-year, funded research projects and long-term R&D collaborations in research centers based at our faculties. In this way, innovative products, services or processes can be developed. Through close relationships with the regional economy and local communities, we increasingly support the transfer between university and industry.

With our R&D traction, we are one of the strongest Universities of Applied Sciences in the German-speaking world.

We are...

... international and interdisziplinary

We combine a wide range of research areas - from business, technology and social affairs - building on partnerships and collaborations with international universities and companies. In addition to working on international projects, our employees also have the opportunity to spend research periods at universities abroad. The wide-ranging expertise gained in this way flows directly into the implementation of innovative solutions that are even closer to practice and thus to the needs of users. And ultimately also bring the decisive advantage for the economy and society.

... a stepping stone for young talents

We give our students the opportunity to work in the field of research and development during their studies and to put theory into practice. Whether in the form of a project, internship or thesis, applied research provides a valuable insight into career opportunities and enables our students to network with experts, professors and other young researchers. To link teaching and research, each of the four faculties has established its own Research Center with specific research focuses.
